original message follows, this is in response to Jay's post in Tobacco News informing us of Seneca's decision to D E S T R O Y their brands with Fire Safety measures:
I have deleted several posts that wondered what could make people think that a brand of cigarette as popular as Seneca could even C O N S I D E R destroying their cigarettes, when they KNOW that people rushed to them for relief from this ridiculous ef-es-see law. original message: If you are here looking for an American Spirit ULTRA LIGHT Replacement, Seneca is your best match, in my opinion. I recommend trying both SkyDancer and Seneca, but try the Sky's FIRST, then the Senecas, two packs each, three if you smoke like -I- do. I think SkyDancer's are a Great replacement for 'Spirit Golds, for the few that were able to buy those. Good luck, I know it's difficult to switch. |

Dear Seneca,
Your decision to go along with the anti-smoking forces in incorporating FSC measures in your cigarettes flies in the face of reason. I can understand the politicos caving in time after time to these insufferable people, but you -must- know that the only 'acceptable' FSC standard is designed by people whose stated desire is to wipe out All smoking. The standard is based upon making cigarettes unsmokeable, Not around saving the lives of sub-humans that fall asleep while smoking. Your giving in on this point is equal to saying that you do not care about the increase in business that you have received based upon people absolutely H A T I N G FS-contaminated cigarettes. No one will go out of their way to try your products if they are the same CRAP that the National poisoners offer. American Spirit can tell you about their sales since the advent of FSCs. Their response to my rant was that they are still all natural. I responded that I all-naturally-could-give-a-crap if they taste bad, make me cough, drop pieces of all-natural black crap while burning, and go out all the time. We are doing business now due to their decision. We will not be doing business if you can not convince the elders that the government does not have their best interests in mind, when coercing them to accept this horrible law. The government's interest in this is that RJR et al's cigarette sales have tanked a scary percentage (exactly like the Merits that they first experimented with) because they went along with the anti-smoker lobby. They are forcing the government to force you to comply, else they'll have to admit that the current FSC standard was authored by people that refuse to take the consumer of the product into account in Any Reasonable way. Tell the elders that they are trading a coming monopoly of the tobacco market, so the price of the US Government bribe had better be in Writing, and had better match that fact in value. (GAWD I hate the auto-correct "feature") |

I just cannot believe that they are actually going to VOLUNTARILY do this. First Blackhawks change how they are made now Seneca is going to "Dip" theirs in toxins...
Why not listen to what the people want, and fight for them...not suckle up to the devil  Slightly peeved... |

The Black Hawk change is not a negative. Is the little diamond on the filter really worth the extra money? We eliminated the diamond. With the money we saved, we were able to get a higher quality tobacco and keep our price down. I think that makes a better product for our customers.

The best change to a brand in order to keep customers happy for a long time is no change at all.
Unfortunately, RJR ignored that advice even brfore they started making fire-safes. Winstons and Salems used to be really popular brands several years ago. But when RJR changed the taste of both of those brands, a lot of former Winston/Salem smokers switched to brands that satisfied them. The same point could be made for changing the way a cig looks. Like let's pretend Black Hawk Menthol FF's went from a corked cig to an all-white cig. Or we can even take the actual fact into account that the diamonds on the Black Hawk filters are now gone. Does a tobacco company think they won't lose any customers if the company change the brand's cig look? As long as the tobacco in the cig still tastes good in the company's eyes? I think even when it comes to smoking Native American cig brands, the taste AND the look of the brand are both just about as important as the cheap price. I certainly wouldn't smoke Black Hawks again if they were made with brown paper, and they looked similar to Mores. I know Black Hawks will never be made with brown paper. I was just trying to make my point clearer on "I'd have second thoughts on buying a cheap brand if the brand has a new cig look." Usually, if a company changes the look of the brand's cig, then the tobacco inside of that cig has changed a lil bit as well. I wanna enjoy the cheap brand I choose for a LONG time with the hopes that the brand's taste and look both will never change.

As for us, we'll work with you. If you don't like the new blend and feel peeved at us, call our toll free number: 1-877-448-6222. We'll exchange what you haven't smoked for another brand. Naturally, if the brand you want costs more (which they will because Black Hawks cost $2 less than anything else we sell), you'll have to pay the difference. We definitely don't want you to be angry. We are still going to make the changes to our brand that we think we need to do, but we won't trick you into accepting those changes. We are always open to discussing your orders and improving on them. We are a customer service company first and foremost. |
