Default Anotha reason why Native brands are betta to smoke

I rememba reading a list of reasons at this shop once on what makes Native-made cigs betta than commerical cigs. And I think this reason is missing on the list.

Native-made brands are NOT fire-safe cigs (FSCs).

More and more states are being required to sell only FSC-made brands. And although I neva smoked Marb Reds much, I read TONS of complaints online from Marlboro Red smokers on how the FSC Reds taste. A lot of those are now former Red smokers. But unfortunately, those who are switching from the FSC chemical brands are now rolling their own or making their own.

Nothang is wrong with former chemical smokers making their own cigs. Since those cigs have nothang but tobacco and no chemicals (and natural mint in the loose menthol tobacco). But if those smokers learned to give Native-made brands a try, they can save lots of time in not making their own cigs.

I dunno if they would save money. Cause it only costs 13-15 bucks to make your own carton of cigs....which is around the price for a carton of a Native brand.

And since online is the only way to buy Native made cigs period, I bet down the line, this shop will see an increase in customers as more people slowly learn about smoking Natives and with fewer smokers buying FSCs offline.

Big Tobacco will lose lots of customers with the fire safe cigs. ANd Blackhawk is one shop that will cash in on Big Tobacco's losses in the long term.

Oh yeah...you don't have to worry about paying antismokers tobacco taxes via buying cartons here instead.

Default Fire Safe Cigarettes?

The coalition for Firesafe Cigarettes says, "A fire-safe cigarette has a reduced propensity to burn when left unattended. The most common fire-safe technology used by cigarette manufacturers is to wrap cigarettes with two or three thin bands of less-porous paper that act as “speed bumps” to slow down a burning cigarette. If a fire-safe cigarette is left unattended, the burning tobacco will reach one of these speed bumps and self-extinguish."

Wikipedia says, "Typically, a cigarette drops from an ashtray into a crevice in upholstered furniture, smolders for several hours, then bursts into flame; people die primarily from smoke inhalation."

So basically, the cigarette is being changed to stop people from getting drunk, passing out with a lit cigarette, burning down their house and killing everyone in their family in the process.

I don't know what to think about it. A lot of kids die in house fires. They don't smoke, so it isn't really their fault. It doesn't really stop the core problem: people being dumb. Yet, if only one kid gets saved from burning to death, it is hard for me to be against it cigarette speed bumps.

Wink

I have heard from a lot of people that the Fire Safe Cigarettes make them feel sick and that the speed bumps as they call them taste funny. Strange that they would add regulations that completely change the products quality. Well I guess it will save lives and we can always buy Native Cigarettes. Which I like better anyhow...

I strongly dislike the FSC cigarettes, you have to keep lighting them. I haven't had the issues with headaches and feeling sick like some, but this is a deal-breaker as far as I'm concerned.

So, my question is, can the Native American brands sold here continue to be sold non-FSC? As it is a state law, and the cigs are made/sold from a sovereign nation, then it should stay that way?

Default Non-FSC (Fire Safe Cigarettes) Native Brands that Black Hawk Carries

Our own brand of Black Hawk cigarettes is the only non-FSC that we carry. While supplies last, we still have some Native All Natural brand cigarettes that are also non-FSC. These are not stale or old cigarettes. Recently, we ordered a large amount of these before they went FSC.

Please also note that we do not add chemicals, preservatives or flavorings to any of the tobacco used in our products. That's what we mean when we say that our cigarettes are chemical free.

Changes in Federal law now mandates that ALL tobacco companies use Fire-Safe Cigarette paper when producing cigarettes. Fire-Safe Cigarette paper is supposedly made up of a series of speed bumps (alterations in the thickness of the paper). The thicker paper prevents a cigarette from continuing to burn when left unattended.

Whether or not FSC paper is harmful or not has yet to be determined. The official statements put out by lawmakers is that FSC is safe.

Almost all cigarette brands in the United States now use Fire-Safe cigarette paper. For now, the Black Hawk cigarette brand is the only Native American brand not using FSC paper. However, we will eventually be required to follow the same standards as all other tobacco companies.

We don't like it either.
